Acadia captures title> Patten shuts out Old Town in District 3 final

MOUNT DESERT – Lyndsey Patten shut out Old Town 12-0 to give Acadia the District 3 softball title in Little League Senior All-Star action Wednesday at the MDI high school field.

Patten struck out eight while walking only three and giving up three hits. Acadia advanced to a 1 p.m. Saturday state tourney game in Portland.

Jill Osier notched three singles for the winners and drove in two runs. Sarah Miller added two singles and an RBI and Kristen Kelley slapped a two-run single.

Kristi Murray, Erica Babin and Emily Ouellette each singled for Old Town.

At the 13th Street Field in Bangor Tuesday night, Whitney Carey singled twice and drove in two runs to help Old Town capture the District 3 championship.

Old Town advanced to the state tourney which begins Saturday in Waldoboro.

Elizabeth Bergeron added an RBI double to back winning pitcher Alicia Day.

Courtney DePhilippo paced Bangor with a double, single and three RBIs and Kate Turner doubled.

Bangor East 21, Old Town 20

At Bangor, Heidi Baker singled home Megan McCrum in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Bangor East to the win.

McCrum doubled to lead off the sixth as part of her three hit day. Stephanie Chase had three singles, and Baker, Megan Chase and Charlee Simpson each had a pair of singles.

Renee Thibodeau ripped three singles for Old Town. Jillian Oullette drove in two runs with a double and a single.

The championship game will be a rematch of this game, played on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Old Town.

Bangor West 3, Holbrook 0

At Bangor, Andrew Treadwell of Bangor West fired a two-hitter to lift his team to victory.

Treadwell struck out 13 batters while walking only one hitter in his gem. Nick Achorn backed the strong mound effort with a double, single and an RBI. Joe Taylor knocked in a run with a single.

Bryan Snyder of Holbrook nearly matched Treadwell’s effort on the hill, allowing only three hits while striking out 14. Pat Healy and J.T. Briendel had the only hits, both singles.

Waldo County 12, Rockland 2

At Knox, Matt Knickerson went 3-for-3 with two triples to power Waldo in the romp in District 2.

Jeremy Tyler went 2-for-3, Pat Moran went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Mike Adams went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.

Tim Drinkwater paced Rockland with two singles.
