Buddhist practice center sets open house in Surry

SURRY — The Morgan Bay Zendo is holding an open house 2-4 p.m. Sunday at its facilities on the Morgan Bay Road.

The Morgan Bay Zendo is a Buddhist practice center. It offers an opportunity for people to practice Buddhist meditation whatever their background or faith may be. Regular meditation periods are held each week and occasional retreats are scheduled May through December.

Those who would like a tour of the Morgan Bay Zendo, meeting hall and grounds, or a chance to sit in silence in the moss rafen, or an opportunity to visit with friends and neighbors, are invited. Children are welcome. Punch, cookies, vegetables and dip will be served.

At the open house, information about the Morgan Bay Zendo and its activities will be available. Anyone wanting to attend the regular Sunday morning meditation period is welcome to join the community from 8 to 10 a.m., remaining for tea and perhaps bringing a bag lunch to eat on the grounds before the open house.
