ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Bangor Blue Ox notched their fourth win in the last six games with a 7-5 victory over the Allentown Ambassadors Wednesday night.
Bangor finishes the first half of the Northeast League season in last place in the northern division with a 19-23 record. Allentown finishes 18-24.
Chad White and Carlos Mota each went 3-for-4 to lead Bangor’s 14-hit attack. White, Mota, Hugh Walker, Tim Morrow, and Dave Ekelund accounted for 12 of Bangor’s hits.
Morrow narrowly missed his fourth homer in four games when he belted a ball off the fence for a two-run double in the first inning.
John Quirk allowed three earned runs in six innings to notch his second win of the season. Mike Macone came on in relief with runners at first and second and two outs in the eighth and went on to pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his third save of the season.
After using five pitchers Wednesday, Blue Ox manager Roger LaFrancois has used 15 in the last three games.
For the Ambassadors, Jared Sadlowski hit his first home run of the season – an inside-the-park shot to right field that plated three runs.
