Former University of Maine-Machias basketball coach and athletic director Sean Casey has been named the athletic director at Division II Dickinson State University in Dickinson, N.D. He also will teach health and physical education, and coach the cross country and golf teams.

Casey, an Orono native, served as men’s basketball coach and AD at UM-Machias for 18 years. He resigned those posts in 1995 after reaching a confidential settlement with UMM and the U.S. Office of Civil Rights, which was investigating allegations that Casey had created a sexually hostile environment for female students and employees.
