ALBANY – Ron Lockett ripped a two-run home run off Bangor lefthander Pete Hartmann as the Diamonds beat the Bangor Blue Ox 3-0 Friday night.

Bangor falls to 3-3 in the second half. Albany, which won the Northeast League’s first-half title, improves to 3-3.

Hartmann pitched a complete game for Bangor, allowing eight hits, with one walk and five strikeouts. He also allowed an unearned run to score in the fifth.

Hartmann was outdueled by Albany’s Ed Reily who pitched eight innings. Reily allowed just three hits, walked four and struck out eight.

Bangor rallied and got the tying run to the plate in the top of the ninth. Gabe Duross was sent up to pinch hit for Dave Ekelund and Albany responded by sending in Jerry Hesler. Hesler needed just one pitch to retire Duross, who flied out to center field.

The save was Hesler’s third of the season.
