Bangor Christian names AD

BANGOR – Carroll Conley Sr. likes his new boss. He feels they will be able to work out any differences of opinion. He knows what makes his boss tick.

That’s because his boss is his son, Carroll Conley Jr.

Carroll Conley Sr. is the new athletic director at Bangor Christian School, where his son is the principal.

“He knows how I think and I know how he thinks. I don’t see any major problems. I know he’s my boss. I’ve worked long enough to know that,” said Carroll Sr., who is just two weeks shy of his 65th birthday. “He has always listened to me and confided in me. Not that he has always done what I suggested. He has his own mind.”

It isn’t the first time they have worked together.

They were co-coaches of the boys basketball and baseball teams at New Testament Christian High School in Norton, Mass.

“It worked out quite well,” said Conley Sr., who was recruited for the Bangor Christian AD job by his 38-year-old son, former head pastor Richard Rockwell, and associate pastor Jerry Mick.

Conley Sr. plans to stay one year or until they can find a quality person for the job.

Conley Sr. had been retired from a distinguished coaching and administrative career at Brownville Junction High School and Penquis Valley High in Milo. He had assisted Mick with the baseball program at BC and has done a lot of one-on-one work with the Patriot boys and girls basketball players. He has also run clinics.

Pauline Conley, Carroll Sr.’s wife and the mother of Carroll Jr., acknowledged that her husband and son think alike and feels it will work out well.

“They had a good time coaching together. They’ll be able to resolve any differences and still be friends,” said Pauline Conley.
