HOULTON – Jared Hardy’s two-run single in the top of the seventh inning gave Rhode Island a 7-6 victory over Maine in New England Regional Babe Ruth Tournament action Tuesday.

Rob Webb’s three-run homer in the first gave Rhode Island the early lead. Joe Fusco tripled and singled for Rhode Island. Webb followed his home run with a single.

For Maine, Sean Korry hit a double and a single.

At Houlton, scoring in every inning, Eastern Massachusetts took an early and commanding lead over its cross-state rival, winning 17-1 after five innings of play.

Scot Searles tripled and singled for Eastern Massachusetts, and Jeff Capone blasted a triple.
