PORTLAND – The Portland Pirates introduced new head coach Bryan Trottier at a news conference Saturday. Trottier succeeds Barry Trotz, who left the Pirates to become of the new NHL expansion team in Nashville, Tenn.
This is the first head coaching job for Trottier. He previously spent three years as an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins and 18 years as a center for Pittsburgh and the New York Islanders, helping to win a combined six Stanley Cups.
