FORT KENT–New students at the University of Maine at Fort Kent will participate in conferences starting Sunday and register for classes next week, with the fall semester starting Wednesday.

Orientation for new students and freshmen who will be living in residence halls begins Sunday. A two-day orientation for other students will start at 8 a.m. Monday.

Orientation conferences will be held on such topics as “Talking Yourself Silly: Why Do I Have to Take an Oral Communications Class,” “Jogging Your Memory: A Psychologist’s Study Tips,” “Back Stage at UMFK,” “UMFK Chainsaw Massacre: An Introduction to the UMFK Forestry Program,” and “Not Just Following the Leader: Making the Most Out of College Life.”

Students also will meet academic advisers and register for classes.

Returning students who have not yet registered for the fall semester may do so with their adviser’s signature at the registrar’s office.
