BANGOR — Gerry Palmer, a Bangor native and businessman, announced his candidacy for the Bangor City Council.

Palmer, owner of Palmer & Associates Career Counseling Services, made the announcement Monday at Norumbega Park on the 70th anniversary of the dedication of the nearby statue of Hannibal Hamlin.

Palmer said downtown parking and riverfront development are two of the issues he would like to address as a member of city government.
