Franck’s overtime goal lifts Schenck

EAST MILLINOCKET – Erica Franck scored off a corner kick with 1:32 left in the second overtime Wednesday, lifting Schenck to a 2-1 schoolgirl soccer victory over Katahdin of Sherman Station.

For 3-0-1 Schenck, Laura Ordway and Kim Mann combined for 12 saves on 19 shots. Beth Clukey converted a Kasey Wyman pass with 27:19 left in the first to tie the game.

Lindsay Duffy-Stanley scored off an assist from Jen McNally in the first half for Katahdin. Emily Davis had eight saves on 10 shots for 3-4 Katahdin.

Lee Academy 3, Greenville 0

At Lee, the Pandas scored three goals in the second half for their second win.

Katie Cormier and Jenny Raymond each scored an unassisted goal. Cassie Pickering finished the scoring when she converted a pass from Cormier. For 2-3 Lee Academy, Tori Nute had five saves on 11 shots.

Keeper Sarah Ward saved two of 16 shots for 1-2-1 Greenville.

Valley 2, Buckfield 1

At Bingham, Erin Melcher scored the game-winner with 17:20 left in the game off an assist from Moriah Harrillcq.

Tiffany Messer tied the game at 1-1 off an assist from Melcher. Megan Dunton saved 10 of 11 shots for 2-1 Valley.

Stephanie Gilbert scored the first goal 1:10 into the game off an assist from Angela Damon for Buckfield. Jody Damon recorded six saves on 16 shots for the 0-3-1 Bucks.

Dexter 4, Penquis Valley 0

At Milo, Morgan Titus tallied three goals as the Tigers shut out the Patriots.

Titus’ first two goals, both unassisted, came just under five minutes apart in the first half. She scored again off an assist from Amber Cooper, who scored off a Briley Bonger pass with 26:22 left in the first. Goalie Megan Hewes had 11 saves on 17 shots for 4-1-1 Dexter.

For 0-4 Penquis Valley, Lillian Gerrish and Amy McInnis combined for seven saves on 11 shots.

Old Town 1, Nokomis 0

At Old Town, Danielle Wentworth scored the game’s only goal in the Indians’ win.

Wentworth scored with 29 minutes left in the game. Jody Kenniston had the assist. For 3-1 Old Town, Justine Ferland saved all seven shots in her third shutout.

Tanya Cray had eight saves on 14 shots for 1-3 Nokomis of Newport.

Woodland 3, Easton 2

At Woodland, Kristin Laplant scored the game-winner, her second goal of the game, off an assist from Rachel Wearne to give Woodland the victory.

Wearne scored the first goal of the game off a pass from Laplant nine minutes into the first half. Ann Dolan saved 14 of 16 shots for 1-1 Woodland.

Megan Amero and Tara Cropley each had goals for the Vikings. Lindsay Faulkner recorded 14 saves on 17 shots for East Grand.

Van Buren 4, Easton 0

At Van Buren, a different girl accounted for each of the Crusaders’ goals, three unassisted, as Van Buren shut out Easton.

Heather Parent, Denise Marquis, Lukey Gagnon, and Kristin Ayotte each scored for 6-4-1 Van Buren. Hope Ouellette and Nicole Parks combined for two saves on two shots.

For the 0-13-1 Bears, Mary Williams saved 12 of 20 shots.

Fort Kent 8, Limestone 0

At Fort Kent, Robin Lamarr had three goals and five other players scored as the Warriors blanked the Eagles.

Lamarr scored her first two goals in the first half. Michelle Saucier and Heather Bard also scored in the first.

In the second half, Andrea Nadeau, Trista Leblanc, Michelle Lausier and Lamarr all scored. Nadeau had three assists and Brandi Ghenon assisted on Nadeau’s goal. Andrea Marquis had eight saves on eight shots for 4-1-3 Fort Kent.

For 1-11 Limestone, Metta Ritz had 16 saves on 40 shots.

Boys soccer

Sumner 3, Machias 2

At Machias, Willy Seward scored three goals, including the game-winner with 8:50 remaining, as the Tigers won.

Machias scored first when Micah Hall converted a Seth Kilton pass 5:26 into the game. Kilton scored an unassisted goal later in the half. Ian McCarthy had three saves on seven shots for 2-2 Machias.

Seward’s game-winner was assisted by Justin Carter. Matt Berner and Billy Duke set up Seward’s first-half tallies. For 2-3 Sumner of East Sullivan, goalie Aaron Scott had six saves on nine shots.

Fort Kent 5, Limestone 0

At Fort Kent, Jon Lozier scored twice to lead the Warriors to the win over the visiting Eagles.

Josh Caron, Von Taggert, and Seth Lovely each scored a goal for the 3-4-1 Warriors. Chad Fournier made 10 saves on 15 shots for the shutout.

Wade Trosper saved 10 of 27 shots for 2-8-2 Limestone.

Central Aroostook 3, Easton 2

At Easton, Scott Mullen netted the game-winner with 6:56 left in the game off an assist from Brandon Bell, who had scored two unassisted goals including the tying goal with 7:30 left in the second half. Brad Walsh saved 18 of 21 shots for 4-6-2 Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.

Erik Lamoreau scored two goals in the losing effort. Jeff Blackstone recorded nine saves on 12 shots for 5-6-3 Easton.

Field hockey

Hermon 5, Bangor 1

At Hermon, Megan Maskus scored two goals to lead the Hawks past Bangor.

Monica Rowe, Jill Schacht and Briana Lane each added goals to the effort. Jean Nelson saved five of six shots for 2-4 Hermon.

Allison Coladarci scored Bangor’s lone goal. Juliette Malmstrom recorded six saves on 13 shots for the 1-4 Rams.

JV: Bangor 1, Hermon 1

Foxcroft Academy 3, John Bapst 0

At Bangor, Becky Warren tallied goals three minutes apart in the second half to pace the Ponies.

Davan Clawson scored an unassisted goal with 22 seconds left in the first half. Sarah Lowell had an assist.

For 3-1 Foxcroft, Cassie Hoffman had saved all 10 shots.

Stephanie Philbrick had 10 saves on 13 shots for 3-1 John Bapst.

Nokomis 2, Old Town 1

At Old Town, Andrea Pelkey scored the game-winner on her second goal of the game with 5:25 left in the first half.

Hope Kurro assisted on both of Pelkey’s goals. Jillian Oliver saved one of two shots she faced for 5-0 Nokomis of Newport.

Melinda Laliberte scored the goal for 3-1 Old Town. Aundrey Brissette recorded seven of nine shots.
