The guest for the third week of the Forecast is Hampden’s Don Hanscom, who is probably still celebrating Hampden Academy’s win over Orono last week. Hanscom’s three sons all played football for the Broncos.

Alan played for the 1970 team that tied Orono, Alan and Lance played for the 1971 team that beat Orono, and youngest son Scott played on the 1986 team, the last to beat Orono before last Friday.

Hanscom, who worked at the NEWS for 38 years _ nine as circulation manager _and his wife Marilyn also have three daughters, Cheryl, Rejina, and Valerie; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In the race among NEWS staffers, assistant sports editor Dave Barber jumped into first place by notching a 17-3 for the second straight week. Pete Warner turned in his second straight mark of 16-4 and is two games behind Barber.

Larry Mahoney also turned in a fine week with a 16-4 mark.

Waterville Athletic Director Jon Perry, last week’s guest, finished with a 13-7. Perry shared the guest championship title last season with Kevin Hewes of Brewer.
