A few years ago there was a place in Bangor called Cascade Park, but few of us knew it existed, and even fewer went there. After four decades of neglect, the “park” was a wreck. Then, along came a selfless citizen named Marshall Frankel. All on his own, with no help from anyone, he launched a one-man campaign to raise funds to restore the park. The result is there for anyone to seel.

Now, Frankel is being attacked by a group of thankless, self-promoting local politicians, who see in his apparent failure to keep precise financial records an opportunity to benefit at his expense. To them I say simply this: Frankel is the most honest person to have served this city in the past 25 years, and you know it. We owe him a great debt of thanks, not a kick in the groin. Marshall T.
