Batson goal tips Calais in 2OT

HARRINGTON – Andrew Batson scored the lone goal of the game with 2:03 left in double overtime to give the Narraguagus Knights a win.

Cameron Worcester set up the scoring play with a well-placed corner kick to Adam Meyer, who assisted on the score. Bruce Hall notched his second shutout this season for the 5-0 Knights with five saves on six shots.

For the 3-2 Blue Devils, Josh Pollard saved 15 of 17 shots.

JV: Calais 1, Narraguagus 0

Washington Acad. 1, Woodland 0

At East Machias, Brandon Ashby netted the game-winner off an assist from Ben Brake with 6:44 remaining in the second half.

Nick St. Pierre saved five shots for 1-4 Washington Academy.

Daryl Huwa recorded eight saves on 11 shots for 1-5 Woodland.

Shead 5, Jonesport-Beals 2

At Perry, Ricky Cox and Corey Sullivan each scored two goals and an assist to lead the Tigers Monday.

Shaun Small and David Merchant added goals to the effort. Gerry Bassett had an assist. Cliff Urquart saved six of nine shots he faced for 3-1-1 Shead of Eastport.

Josh Knowlton and David Merchant had goals for the Royals. Glenn Libby and Michael Lewark combined to save 14 of 19 shots for 1-4 Jonesport-Beals.

Ashland 5, Southern Aroostook 2

At Dyer Brook, Charles Robinson scored three goals to lead the Hornets Monday afternoon.

Dustin Lovewell scored a goal and Darren Belskis added two assists to the effort. Aaron Bennett had a goal and an assist. Jeremy O’Clair saved two of five shots for 6-4 Ashland.

Ben Walker and Jeremy Locke each scored goals for the Warriors. John Armour had an assist. Sam Michaud recorded six saves on 15 shots for 3-6-1 Southern Aroostook.

Machias 5, Lubec 0

At Lubec, Seth Kilton scored two goals and an assist to lead the Bulldogs Monday.

Aaron Getchell, Stephen Hudson and Tom Frutchey each added goals to the effort. Ian McCarthy saved nine of 11 shots for 3-2 Machias.

Sean Daye and Mike Franz combined to record nine saves on 18 shots for 0-4 Lubec.

Penquis 1, Penobscot Valley 0

At Milo, Ryan Smart scored the game-winner with 11:01 left in the second half.

Tom Gillis saved six of 13 shots for the 1-4 Patriots.

Matt Lindsay recorded six saves on 11 shots for 1-4-2 Penobscot Valley of Howland.

Lee Academy 1, Sumner 0

At Sumner, Adam Peters netted the game-winner 1:14 into the second half to lead the Pandas Monday.

Travis Jacobs saved nine of 21 shots for 5-2 Lee Academy.

Aaron Scott recorded 17 saves on 18 shots for 2-5 Sumner.

Greenville 3, Valley 1

At Bingham, Ian Morrill scored the game-winner off an assist from Charles Bradford with 16:25 left in the second half.

Tom Deming tied the game at 1-1 off a pass from Morrill with 25:37 left in the game. Deming added another goal off an assist from Jason Searles with 53 seconds left. Josh Glavine saved four of 13 shots for 2-1-2 Greenville.

Joel Frigon gave the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead off a pass from Mickey Young 11:43 into the second half. Chris Willer recorded 20 saves on 32 shots for 0-6-1 Valley.

John Bapst 1, Central 0 (1OT)

At East Corinth, Chad Wong headed home Mike Lynch’s flip throw-in in the first overtime to give John Bapst its first win after five losses.

Central, which missed a penalty kick later in the game, fell to 1-4.

Bapst goalie Tim Smith made six saves on nine shots while Central’s Rob Reynolds stopped seven of 12 shots.

Schenck 4, Dexter 0

At Dexter, Shawn Rosebush scored two goals to lead the Wolverines Monday.

Chris Wyman added a goal and an assist to the effort. Dustan Thompson had a goal. Aaron Turcotte saved 14 of 22 shots for 4-0-1 Schenck.

Ryan Robichaud recorded 15 saves on 19 shots for the 2-3-1 Dexter Tigers.

Dexter 4, Penquis Valley 1

At Dexter on Saturday, Matt Small scored two goals and added two assists to lead Dexter past Penquis.

Dan Fields and Derek Sawyer each had goals for the Tigers. Matt Grillo and Kasey Gilbert each added assists. Ryan Robichaud saved nine of 10 shots for 2-3-1 Dexter.

Michael Weston gave the Patriots a 1-0 lead with a goal off a pass from Derick Perkins 4:12 into the game. Tom Gillis recorded 11 saves on 35 shots for 1-5 Penquis of Milo.

George Stevens 3, Bucksport 1

At Blue Hill, Dave Loomis had a goal and an assist to help pace the George Stevens Academy Eagles.

Matt Welch scored on a penalty kick and Josh Hatch scored the other goal on a Chris Baldwin assist for the 3-3 Eagles. Owen Newkirk made three saves on 17 shots.

Ken Morrison scored on a Pat Lalonde assist and Chris Marzolf saved eight of 20 shots for the 2-5 Bucks.

Hampden 5, Old Town 0

At Old Town, Max Brooks scored two goals as his Hampden Academy Broncos blanked the Indians.

Justin Groshon, Derek Rodgerson, and Jack Woodcock each scored a goal for the 6-1 Broncos.

Josh Quint, Noah Peet, and Jack Woodcock combined to make two saves on two shots.

John Graves saved 10 of 24 shots for the 2-3 Indians.

JV: Hampden 3, Old Town 2

Orono 2, MDI 1

At Orono, David Cody scored the game-winner off an assist from Chris Lapointe with 6:52 left in the second half.

Daryl Watson game the Red Riots a 1-0 lead off an assist from Ben Barry with 18:43 remaining in the first half. Gary Mehuren saved eight of nine shots of 4-2 Orono.

Chris Slack scored a goal that cut the lead to 2-1 with 3:01 left in the game. Mike Garrity recorded eight saves on 10 shots for the 4-3 Trojans.

Ashland 6, Southern Aroostook 0

At Dyer Brook, Heidi Maker scored two goals and two assists to lead the Horners Monday.

Tracy Devoe scored two goals and Leslie Bessley added a goal and two assists to the effort. Sarah Dwyer scored a goal and Andra Millet had an assist. Mandy Maker saved 11 of 21 shots for 6-2-2 Ashland.

Megan Wilkins recorded eight saves on 19 shots for 5-3 Southern Aroostook.

Greenville 3, Valley 1

At Greenvile, sisters Kim Folsom and Sarah Folsom each scored a goal to spark Greenville. Kim scored unassisted and set up Sarah’s goal.

Julie Richardson added an unassisted goal for the 3-3-1 Lakers and goalie Sara Ward made nine saves on 11 shots.

Erin Melcher scored unassisted for 3-2 Valley of Bingham and goalie Megan Dunton made eight saves on nine shots.

Bangor Christian 1, DI-S 0

At Deer Isle, Laura Johnson scored the game-winner off an assist from Rachel Sobey with 1:53 remaining in the game.

Stephanie Regan saved eight of 10 shots for 4-2 Bangor Christian.

Ruby Santospago recorded 16 saves on 22 shots for 2-3 Deer Isle-Stonington.

Field hockey

Piscataquis 5, Mattanawcook 1

At Lincoln, Darby Smiley scored the game-winner on her first of three goals to lead the Pirates Monday afternoon.

Erin Smith and Miranda Burant each added goals to the effort. Jana Watson saved one of three shots for 6-0 Piscataquis of Guilford.

Candace Sabol cut the lead to 3-1 off an assist from Taryn Turcotte with 10 minutes remaining in the game. Tracie Pickering and Desirae Haines combined to save seven of 12 shots for 1-4 Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln.

JV: Mattanawcook Academy 1, Piscataquis 0

Orono 3, Stearns 1

At Orono, Alicia Vinal scored the game-winner with eight minutes left in the second half off an assist from Amanda Gammisch.

Pam Ventura scored the first goal of the game 19 minutes into the first half for the Red Riots. Gammisch added an insurance goal off an assist from Caroline Tjepkema with 1:30 remaining in the game. Jenn Brooks save five of six shots for 2-3 Orono.

Tony Kelly netted a goal that cut the lead to 2-1 with 7:21 left in the game. Colleen Burgess recorded 17 saves on 21 shots for 0-6 Stearns.

Central 1, Brewer 0 (1OT)

At Brewer, Kim Black scored a goal with three minutes left in the sudden death overtime for the Devils’ win.

Jen Greatorex was the keeper for 4-1 Central. Jenny Coutts was in goal for the 0-6 Witches.
