Daigle, UMPI record shutout

SAINT JOHN, New Brunswick – The University of Maine-Presque Isle received goals from four different players Friday as the Owls earned a 4-0 women’s soccer victory over the University of New Brunswick-Saint John.

Cyndi Trapnell scored an unassisted goal and Heather Van Oesen connected off a Michele Dufour assist. In the second half, Megan Thomas scored off a Shawn Callahan feed and Jamie Benner tallied on Stephanie Thurlow assist.

Keli Daigle made eight saves on nine shots for 3-4 UMPI, while Melita Brockschwyer and Martina Shannon combined for 10 saves on 18 shots for 1-3-2 UNB-Saint John.

Men’s soccer

Maine Maritime 5, UMFK 1

At Castine, Maine Maritime Academy had five different players score in the win over the University of Maine-Fort Kent.

Farhan Zbairan scored a goal and provided two assists for the Mariners. Jason Fraser, Seth Brown, Angelo Rizzitello and Conor Crawford scored one goal apiece. Mike Bills and Derek Conlan combined for three saves on five shots.

Melik Khoury made 15 saves on 20 shots for UMFK.
