KINGSTON, R.I. – Dedra DeLilli scored twice as the University of Maine rolled by the University of Rhode Island 4-2 for its fourth straight win Wednesday.
DeLilli put UMaine on the board with 24:09 to go in the first half and Jeni Turner converted a feed from Heidi Spurling 10 minutes later to make it 2-0. Karen Hebert later put Maine up 3-1 and DeLilli scored her second with 13:07 left in the game. Cindy Botett stopped eight of 13 shots for Maine, now 8-5.
Jackie Pizzi stopped 24 of 29 shots for 0-14 URI.
Men’s soccer
UMFK 9, UMA 1
At Fort Kent, Mark Poloni had five goals to bolster 9-7-1 UMaine-Fort Kent.
Lucus Levesque, Ben Collings, Ryan Niolas and Brian Wilson also had goals, while Melik Khoury earned the win with eight saves.
Jay Bourque scored for 0-8-1 UMaine-Augusta.
UMaine game postponed
The University of Maine men’s game against Boston University was postponed because of a lack of officials. No date was set for the makeup.
Maine Maritime 4, Unity 1
At Castine, Mark Thibodeau scored two goals and Farhan Zbairan had a goal and an assist in the Mariners’ victory.
Derek Conlin made two saves on eight shots for 9-6 Maine Maritime.
Rick Vegliante had an unassisted goal for 9-5-2 Unity in the second half and Frank Sloup had 13 saves on 26 shots.
Women’s soccer
UMF 2, St. Joe’s 0
At Farmington, Lauren Piascik and Sarah Kerrogen each scored to give 6-4-1 UMF the win. Pam Goyette had the shutout stopping, five of eight shots for the Beavers.
Kendra Brown had five saves on 12 shots for St. Joe’s.
UM-Machias 5, Husson 0
At Machias, Katherine Kulais recorded a second-half hat trick and an assist in the Clippers’ win.
Lori Anderson made eight saves on 13 shots for 4-4-1 UM-Machias, with Heather Hogan making 14 saves on 25 shots for 0-8-1 Husson.
