BANGOR DAILY NEWS (BANGOR, MAINE

While I sympathize with Marcia Hatt’s dilemma in getting her child safely to school (BDN, Oct. 29), I also agreee with the Bangor School Department that it would not be fair to the other non-bused children for her child to be bused.

It seems even a small problem is often turned into a major crisis. I see a very simple solution, one even my mother used back in the mid-1930s when I was in the lower elementary grades. She had a willing and responsible older neighborhood child accompany me to and from school. Mrs. Hatt and other parents might find this idea useful. It makes sense for all children to go in pairs or small groups when they are out on the city streets. Virginia Libhart Seal Cove
