AUGUSTA – Twenty-five hundred 12-inch brook trout will be dumped into Moosehead Lake Thursday, made possible by a fund-raising effort by a group of citizens called the Moosehead Lake Fishery Coalition.
The 400-member group raised $6,000 for this special stocking, and have been working the past few years in hopes of improving sport fishing at the lake. They have worked with regional biologists in gathering smelt eggs for the lake, and cleaning up its tributaries. Every year, biologists oversee the stocking of more than 1 million fish in Maine waters.
