SKOWHEGAN — Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream has presented the state a $7,341.66 check that will be used to promote tourism. The money was generated from sales of a new line of Gifford’s ice cream called Maine Landmark.
Gifford’s is donating 5 cents for each half-gallon of Maine Landmark ice cream sold.
The line of ice cream was unveiled in May at a reception at the Blaine House in Augusta. Maine Landmark, carried by supermarkets and convenience stores statewide, comes in eight flavors, all with Maine themes. Flavors include Allagash Heavenly Hash, Mt. Katahdin Chocolate and Vacationland Vanilla.
The money, state officials said, will be used to supplement the Office of Tourism budget.
