Husson College basketball player Tony Tobin didn’t have his day in court after all on Wednesday, as his arraignment in Seventh District Court never took place.

Tobin was arrested by Waterville police Oct. 30 and charged with drunken driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a useable amount of marijuana.

David Crook, the District Attorney of Somerset and Kennebec counties, said Tobin couldn’t get a ride to Waterville.

“He called the court because his planned ride didn’t materialize, so he got a continuance,” Crook said. “The date will be decided at some time in the future.”

Husson basketball coach Warren Caruso said Tobin was told he will find out his new arraignment date today, and that it won’t be until January at the earliest.

Tobin served a two-game suspension meted out by Caruso for the arrest and was stripped of his captaincy.

Tobin then missed five more games waiting for Husson College officials to examine his role in a Nov. 14 campus altercation. A Husson disciplinary board finally took no action against him in the matter.

The 5-foot-8 guard played his high school ball at Limestone High and is averaging 8.7 points per game.
