I read with interest the the column, “Medicine not to be bought, sold” (BDN, Dec. 16), by Dr. Erik Steele. He is correct and the Norumbega system is set up and planned so patients come in every six months — needed or not — to have this or that test taken. This seems to set up a pretty profitable pipeline.
This is excellent for the people who wish this, as they call for it, but most of us wish to pay for what we need, when we need it. Donald Arguien Old Town
Dr. Steele’s column was a welcome commentary on the emerging changes in health care service.
Many of the articles on this subject are difficult to follow, but he presented it so clearly, minus hay and chaff, I gained a much better perspective.
Dr. Steele and Kent Ward are two of my favorites. Both are “keepers.” Gloria S. Faulkner Eddington
