Caribou knocks off Presque Isle

CARIBOU – The Caribou Vikings kept the pace relatively slow for three quarters, then fended off a fourth-quarter rally while knocking off archrival Presque Isle 51-47 in Big East basketball action Tuesday night.

Ryan Soucie paced Caribou with a game-high 17 points and Lance Belanger tossed in 15.

Tory McPherson led the way for the Wildcats with 15 points. Jon Blanchard contributed 12.

At Alfond Arena in Orono, the Wildcats scored four unanswered goals over the final two periods to nip the Red Riots.

Kyle Folsom scored two goals for 5-1 Presque Isle. Jason Straetz added a goal and an assist. Josh Hayes scored a goal. Jamie Brewer and Jeremy Fisher added assists. Ted Wright made 20 saves on 23 shots.

Matt McKnight and Noah Lundy had a goal and an assist apiece for 5-1 Orono. Tom Hite added two assists. Chris Monberg and Eric Powers each had an assist. Shane Rivers stopped 19 of 23 shots.
