In response to the letter written by the disgruntled man over the fruitcake toss to raise money for Christmas Daddies (BDN, Dec. 25), I would like to open his eyes to see the point he is missing.
Christmas Daddies is an organization intended to help needy children in the Greater Bangor area to see a Christmas they might otherwise go without. Some of these kids have far less than you can imagine, with needs such as warm boots, blankets, clothing and toys.
This year with the help of the talk station, WalMart and other area businesses and concerned citizens, more than 1,000 area children were able to see a gift under their tree and have clothing and other items of necessity that they would have gone without.
I don’t think a few loaves of hard, fruity bread are going to help end world hunger, but what they did do was bring joy to the faces of more than 1,000 needy children in this community. I hope this scrooge remembers that the next time he throws his own leftovers in the disposal. Anne Violette Christmas Daddies director, Brewer
