Bates rallies past Colby in State of Maine final

WATERVILLE – Freshman Kate McLaughlin made a layup with one second remaining Monday night to give Bates College of Lewiston a 69-68 victory over Colby in the championship game of the State of Maine Women’s Basketball Tournament.

Bates erased at 17-point deficit in a four-minute stretch of the second half to pull even with the White Mules.

Katy Dutille and Jolene Thurston paced the Bobcats with 14 points apiece. Emily King added 13 points and Val Rosenberg and Colleen McCrave each scored 12.

Kim Condon and Jen McGonagle scored 17 points each for Colby. Condon also grabbed 11 rebounds. Mandy Cochrane and Erin Cole-Karagory had 13 and 12 points, respectively.
