Presque Isle store robbed at gunpoint

PRESQUE ISLE — Police on Wednesday were continuing their investigation of an armed robbery Tuesday night of a local convenience store.

Police Chief Naldo Gagnon said the robbery occurred about 7:15 p.m. at the Hometown Variety Store on Academy Street. The store was known previously as Gus’s Daughters.

Gagnon said a man entered the store and, brandishing a small revolver, demanded money from the clerk. After being given the money, the man fled on foot to a car, which the clerk told police sounded like a four-cylinder model. The clerk, who was alone in the store, was not hurt.

Police on Wednesday declined to say how much money was taken in the robbery.

The man was described as being between 5 feet 6 inches tall and 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a small build. He was wearing a baseball cap, a black-and-white camou- flage-style scarf, and black wind pants.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the Presque Isle Police Department at 764-4476, or Aroostook County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-638-TIPS.
