Bangor holds off Broncos

BANGOR – Senior guard Tommy Waterman scored six of his 15 points in the fourth quarter, including a pair of clutch free throws that gave Bangor its final margin in a 54-51 schoolboy basketball victory over Hampden Thursday night.

Mike Arsenault had 13 points for the winners, and Elliot Blackstone scored 11 more.

Rodgerson, whose desperation 3-pointer to tie the game glanced off the rim, had a game-high 19 points for Hampden and also grabbed seven rebounds. Tim Shaw had 13 points.

Bangor coach Roger Reed said, “Most of the time, we’ve had such an easy time that winning a game like this is good for us. They tested us throughout.”

Reed said Arsenault hit three quick buckets to start the second half and jump-started the Rams.
