The Associated Press has named new correspondents in Portland and Chattanooga, Tenn.
David Sharp, correspondent in Morgantown, W.Va., becomes correspondent in charge of the AP’s Portland bureau. The appointment was announced Thursday by Larry Laughlin, the news cooperative’s chief of bureau for northern New England.
Sharp, 31, joined the AP in Montgomery, Ala., in 1990 and later that year transferred to Portland. He was promoted to the Morgantown post in 1996.
Sharp is a native of Huntsville, Ala., and a graduate of Auburn University who began his journalism career at the Gadsden (Ala.) Times. He succeeds Elizabeth Edwardsen.
