Monroe man, son OK after pickup strikes plow

ETNA — A Monroe man refused treatment for his minor injuries Monday afternoon after his pickup truck struck the rear of a town plow truck.

The pickup truck was demolished, Penobscot County Sheriff’s Deputy John Skroski said.

The accident took place at about 1:40 p.m. on Dixmont Road. Driving a 1997 Ford pickup truck, Fred Andreoli, 35, of Monroe was rounding a bend in the road near the Etna-Dixmont School when he crossed the center and struck the plow driven by Ronald Carter, 58, of Etna, Skroski reported. With Andreoli was his son, Wyatt, 3, who was not injured. Seat belts worn by the father and son kept injuries from being more serious than they were, said the deputy.

Skroski said that speed apparently was a factor in the crash, which also damaged the plow truck’s sander. The plow truck was backing into the school lot when the accident happened, said the deputy.

R & R Lumber of Carmel owns the plow truck, which is used under contract to maintain winter roads in Etna.

No charges are pending at this time.
