Caribou Vikes knock Brewer

CARIBOU – The Caribou Vikings rallied from a five-point halftime deficit to take a 10-point lead after three quarters and notch a 66-57 schoolboy basketball win over Brewer Saturday afternoon.

Ryan Soucie led Caribou with 21 points. James Sam and Lance Belanger added 17 and 15 points respectively.

Tim Hughes led Brewer with 28 points.

Rangeley’s Mike Spalding scored a game-high 39 points and Ryan Wilbur added 12.

At Kennebec Ice Arena Saturday, the Wildcats scored five goals in the second period to erase the 2-1 Maranacook first-period lead and get the win.

Josh Hayes scored two goals and Jamie Brewer added another and tallied two assists. Mike Gallagher and Adam Gahagan each put in a score and Joel Duncan had two assists. Jeremy Fischer and Aaron Madore each added an assist. Ted Wright and Joey Grenier combined to stop 13 of 16 shots.

For Maranacook of Readfield, Ian Harger scored one goal and tallied two assists and Ian Harger scored once and assisted on a goal. Evan Storm scored for the Bears and Nick Waddell and John Hamilton each had assists. Goalie Justin Pepin made 29 saves on 36 shots.

Presque Isle 6, Kents Hill 2

At Kennebec Ice Arena Friday, Josh Hayes scored three goals and added an assist as the Wildcats defeated Kents Hill.

Jamie Brewer added a goal and an assist for 10-1-1 Presque Isle. Derek Allen scored two goals. Joel Duncan had four assists. Joey Grenier made 14 saves on 16 shots.

Leo Hussey and Christopher Daugherty scored goals for Kents Hill. Daugherty and Hugo Steinbeck each had an assist. Nick Hussey stopped 16 of 22 shots.
