UMF uses scoring balance to beat MMA

CASTINE – Shawn Spadea and Daren Meader each scored 16 points to lead the University of Maine-Farmington to a 79-66 men’s basketball win over Maine Maritime Academy Monday night.

Jason White added 13 points and Laughn Berhiaume had 12 for the winners. Jason Webster chipped in with 11 points.

Matt Ketchen scored 16 of his game-high 26 points in the second half for Maine Maritime. Chris Beeler added 12 points.

At Castine, Vanessa LeBlond scored 13 of her game-high 26 points in the first half as Maine Maritime built a 35-18 lead at intermission.

LeBlond added 14 rebounds and Lindsay Smith chipped in with 10 points.

Louise Hildreth paced the University of Maine-Machias with 16 points. Lori Morrow scored 13 points and Ann-Marie Cochrane added 11.
