A friendly warning to all seafood processors. As a member of the seafood industry, I’m puzzled over the apparent lack of concern of some seafood processors to come in line with the new seafood regulations. I have the distinction of knowing many of the federal and state seafood inspectors who are now involved in implementing the inspection phase of these regulations and are finding many seafood processors, handlers, importers, etc., who are not in compliance.

In most instances, training is required in order to comply with these regulations. I would urge anyone connected with the seafood industry to contact the state department that issued their license to determine what their needs might be. Ron Hoelzer Maine Food Technology Associates Bangor
