Man dies in snowsled accident> 31-year-old victim visiting father in Mars Hill

MARS HILL — A Mars Hill man snowmobiling with his visiting son and a friend found the son dead after an accident Friday night along a trail in Aroostook County.

The victim was identified as Christopher Jacobs, 31, of Laurel, Md., who formerly lived in northern Maine.

According to the Maine Warden Service, Idel Jacobs, his son and a third man had set out from Mars Hill for Presque Isle, where they had dinner.

On the return trip, the victim became separated from the other two men, touching off a search.

Agency spokesman V. Paul Reynolds said Christopher Jacobs apparently went off the trail, clipped a tree and was thrown from his sled.
