JOYCE SCOTT of Bernadini’s Restaurant in Calais received the award for Excellence in Food Service during the annual Unity Dinner at the Bangor Civic Center on Jan. 14. The waitress was recognized for “going the extra mile” with her regular customers and even taking the time to visit customers when they are sick or in the hospital. More than 250 members of the tourism industry, friends and family members of award winners attended the celebration which was sponsored by the Maine Tourism Commission.

RICHARD HOGAN of Bangor, a State Farm insurance agent, has been recognized with the National Quality Award by the National Association of Life Underwriters of Washington, D.C. Only 10 percent to 15 percent of the nation’s insurance agents receive one of these annual industry awards. The NALU, founded in 1890, represents more than 110,000 professionals in life, health, property-casualty insurance and other financial services.

MARGARET JENNER and STEPHEN KRULIKOSKI have joined the staff of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Togus. The two psychiatrists, husband and wife, graduated from Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, Mich., in 1991. They both completed residency programs in psychiatry at Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich., and previously were employed at the VA Medical Center in Bath, N.Y.

DIANE L. CLOUGH of Bridgewater has been appointed vice president of bank operations at Katahdin Trust Co. The University of Maine graduate began her banking career in 1969 at Casco Northern Bank (formerly Northern National Bank), where she held positions including computer programmer-analyst, auditor, vice president and director of consumer finance. In 1993, she joined First Citizens Bank as vice president and operations manager. Before joining Katahdin Trust Co., she served as vice president of operations at Bar Harbor Banking and Trust Co. in Ellsworth.

KENNETH LEXIER of the law firm of Wright & Mills, P.A., has been elected president of the Somerset County Law Association. Lexier, a resident of Cornville, joined the firm as a law clerk in 1989 while in law school and remained after passing the bar exam in 1991. He graduated from the Maine Law School with honors in 1991 and earned the school’s Trial Advocacy Award.

WILL WEDGE, store manager of the Broadway Shop ‘n Save, has been named the 1997 District I Store Manager of the Year. Selection is based on customer service, community involvement, teamwork, leadership, financial results and human resources. Wedge, a graduate of University of Maine, is pursuing a master’s degree in business at Husson College.

DEBRA W. CURTIS of Belfast has been appointed sales manager of Moss Inc., a custom manufacturer of signs. Curtis replaces Thomas Wilhelm, who is leaving the Belfast plant to head MossEurope, the company’s new venture in Germany. Curtis is a graduate of the University of Maine and joined Moss in 1994 as a sales assistant and was promoted to account executive in 1996.

NISSA REMSEN of Camden has joined Moss Inc. as a sales assistant. A ceramics artist and jewelry designer, she is a former partner of Remsen Studios in Rockport, and visiting artist and instructor in local schools. Remsen graduated from the University of Southern Maine.
