BANGOR — Bangor firefighters will be going door-to-door in selected neighborhoods Monday, March 16, to install free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to qualified recipients.
One hundred and forty detectors were donated by Home Depot in Bangor for the cause.
“January’s ice storm left thousands of area residents without power,” said Lt. Jason Johnson. “Many homeowners turned to gas-powered electric generators and kerosene- and propane-filled space heaters. … Unfortunately, this led to an increase in the number of fires and carbon monoxide poisonings.”
For more information, or to set up a time to meet with the firefighters, call Johnson at 942-6335.
