Clinton man awakes to burning home

CLINTON — A man awoke to find his house on fire Thursday afternoon.

The Clinton Fire Department received a call around 1 p.m. Thursday from Paul Taliaferro, the owner of the house, claiming that he was awakened by smoke and ran to his neighbors to call the Fire Department.

According to John Lagross, captain and dispatcher of the Clinton Fire Department, Taliaferro was taken to Mid-Maine Medical Center’s Thayer Unit and treated and released for smoke inhalation.

The fire consumed the modular home and burned for two hours before the firefighters could bring it under control. Firefighters said the house was a total loss.
