I have been following with interest the recent proceedings by the Bangor City Council pertaining to regulation of commercial nudity within our city. I welcomed the news (BDN, March 18) which indicated the municipal operations committee wants to consider a complete ban on such activity. This is my personal preference and I believe that of many Bangor residents.

In another article, a promoter of the commercial nudity busines was quoted as saying she is a spokesperson for hundreds, if not thousands of people in Bangor who want this type of entertainment. I, without hesitation or reservation, will go on record as saying I am a spokesperson for hundreds, if not thousands of people in Bangor who do not want it.

If those in this type of despicable business truly believe they are the victims of “a vigilante committee,” a label promoter David Lawler seems to have given the City Council, let them see if they can get enough signatures of Bangor residents on a petition, and bring the matter to a vote by our citizens.
