FORT PIERCE, Fla., – Thomas College of Waterville was held to a combined seven hits and no runs in dropping its opening games to 6-2 Millersville (Pa.), 11-0 and 12-0.
In the opener, Dana Trout came a homer short of hitting for the cycle, going 3-for-3 with five RBI. Millersville had a six-run outburst in the second inning thanks to four Thomas errors. Heather Currie also had a 3-for-3 day, knocking in two. Janell Smith rapped two hits.
Errors again plagued Thomas in the second game, as six errors in the fourth inning led to nine Millersville runs. Trout, Smith and Andie Iusnock all had RBI in the frame. Smith had two hits on the day.
