Marine Cpl. Timothy T. Myers, a 1995 graduate of Orono High School, recently participated in a training exercise in the Arabian Desert while on a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. He is the son of James Myers Sr. of Orono and Laurie B. Beylerian of Glenburn.
Navy Seaman Michael A. Cummings, son of Sherry Q. Cummings of Old Town, recently participated in Project Handclasp and other community-relations efforts while assigned to the guided missile frigate USS Underwood, on a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea. He is a 1996 graduate of the Old Town High School.
Seaman Apprentice Rachel J. Crossman, daughter of Stanley B. Crossman and Lorna K. Crossman of Winterport, has been assigned to search and rescue and law enforcement at the U.S. Coast Guard Station, Port Huron, Mich.
Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Janathan T. Moores, son of Hollis E. and Jeannete L. Moore of Hudson, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas. He is a 1997 graduate of Bangor Christian Schools, Bangor.
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class John A. Newman, son-in-law of David K. and Joan Kroehler of Bangor, recently participated in Project Handclasp and other community-relations efforts while assigned to the guided missile frigate USS Undwerwood, on a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea. He is a 1986 graduate of Ellsworth High School.
Air Force Senior Airman Dean C. Nash has been named Airman of the Year. He is co-editor of the base newspaper and assigned to the 31st Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office, Aviano Air Base, Italy. He is the son of Ralph Nash of Passadumkeag.
Donald Martin Jr. has been promoted to the rank of corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 1995 and was assigned to Parris Island for boot camp; Camp Geiger for combat training; Barstow, Calif. for supply school; and Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan. He took part in Operation Cobra Gold in Thailand. He has recieved four certificates of commendation, the National Defense Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. He is stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. with his wife, Stacie, and son Joshua. He is the son of Donald and Christine Martin of Brownville Junction.
Justin C. Franck has joined the U.S. Army Reserve under the Delayed Training Program. He is a 1994 graduate of Van Buren High School and is assigned to Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C., for basic training. He is the son of Bronwyn R. Franck of Bangor and Richard R. Franck of Van Buren.
