Dec. 1, 1990: Cindy Blodgett’s name appears in BDN for first time. She’s listed among Lawrence “key players” in Class A basketball preview.

Dec. 7, 1990: Blodgett scores 22 points in her high school debut, leading Lawrence to a 71-52 victory over Mt. Blue at Fairfield.

March 10, 1991: Blodgett overcomes early foul trouble to score 23 points as Lawrence beats Stearns to earn the first of four straight Class A regional titles.

March 16, 1991: Blodgett scores 25 points as Lawrence beats Portland 77-67 for its first-ever basketball state championship.

April 6, 1991: Blodgett becomes the first freshman since Westbrook’s Lisa Blais named to the NEWS All-Maine First Team. She averaged 22.3 points.

March 7, 1992: Blodgett hits for 15 points in a five-minute span, helping Lawrence beat Stearns 64-49 at the Bangor Auditorium for its second consecutive EM Class A championship.

March 14, 1992: Blodgett racks up 29 points and 13 rebounds as the Bulldogs cruise past Portland 69-52 to win the state crown and finish 22-0.

Dec. 17, 1992: Blodgett pours in 41 points, but Amy Vachon helps Cony end Lawrence’s 41-game winning streak.

March 17, 1993: Blodgett sets a tourney record with 40 points, propelling Lawrence to its third straight state title with a 68-66 victory over Westbrook.

April 3, 1993: Voters list Blodgett as “Simply the best,” as she earns her third straight NEWS All-Maine First Team berth.

Nov. 16, 1993: Blodgett announces she will attend the University of Maine on a basketball scholarship.

Jan. 14, 1994: Blodgett goes over 2,000 career points with a 46-point effort against Gardiner at Fairfield. Blodgett also registered a quadruple-double, adding 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals.

Jan. 26, 1994: Blodgett connected for 18 of her team’s 21 points in the last six minutes en route to 44 points as Lawrence wiped out a 15-point deficit and beat archrival Cony.

Feb. 4, 1994: Blodgett tosses in 44 points in a win over Waterville, becoming the all-time leading schoolgirl scorer in Maine history with 2,215 career points.

Feb. 15, 1994: Blodgett scores 41 points in a win over Gardiner, passing Vinalhaven’s Ray Alley, who amassed 2,306 points, to become the most prolific scorer in Maine high school basketball.

March 14, 1994: Blodgett tosses in a tournament-record 47 points as Lawrence beats Cony for its fourth consecutive EM Class A championship in front of a capacity crowd of 6,000 fans at the Bangor Auditorium. She also sets EM tourney records for free throws in a game (16) and points in a tournament (123).

March 19, 1994: Blodgett plays her final game for Lawrence, burning Portland for 32 points as the Bulldogs wrapped up their four-year domination of Class A with another state title.

March 25, 1994: Blodgett is named Miss Maine Basketball, the state’s top senior.

April 1, 1994: Blodgett becomes only the second schoolgirl player named to the NEWS’ All-Maine First Team four years in a row after averaging 35.8 points and 10.8 rebounds for Lawrence.

Nov. 25, 1994: Blodgett makes her official debut for the UMaine Black Bears, scoring 17 points.

Jan. 5, 1995: Blodgett scores 30 points, paving the way for UMaine’s historic 75-73 victory over 10th-ranked Alabama in front of 4,000 fans at Alfond Arena.

March 1, 1995: Blodgett becomes UMaine’s all-time best freshman scorer, breaking Rachel Bouchard’s mark of 480 points with a 34-point effort in a win at New Hampshire.

March 3, 1995: Blodgett is the coaches’ unanimous choice as the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year. She also makes the All-NAC First Team.

March 11, 1995: Blodgett (26 points, 7 steals) and the Bears make history, earning the program’s first NCAA Tournament bid with a 70-59 victory over Northeastern in the North Atlantic Conference title game.

March 16, 1995: UMaine is beaten by eventual national champion Connecticut in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Storrs, Conn. Blodgett scores 10 points.

March 22, 1995: Blodgett is named a Kodak District I All-America for the first of four consecutive seasons.

April 24, 1995: Blodgett is among 12 players selected to play on the East team at the 1995 U.S. Olympic Festival in Denver.

July 29, 1995: After scoring 64 points in four games, Blodgett is named the MVP of the U.S. Olympic Festival women’s basketball tournament in Denver.

Nov. 25, 1995: Blodgett is limited to a career-low four points on 2-for-12 shooting in a lopsided loss to Alabama in the championship game of the Sheraton Capstone Classic in Tuscaloosa.

Jan. 14, 1996: Blodgett reaches 1,000 career points at UMaine during a 41-point outburst in the Bears’ 107-53 rout of Drexel at Alfond Arena in Orono.

Jan. 18, 1996: Blodgett emerges as the nation’s leading scorer, scoring 41 points in back-to-back wins to push her average to 26.1 points per game.

Feb. 28, 1996: Blodgett becomes the first sophomore to be named NAC Player of the Year.

March 9, 1996: Blodgett scores 31 points as Maine routs Vermont 88-55 for the NAC championship.

March 15, 1996: Blodgett’s 25 points aren’t enough as the Bears fall to George Washington in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Charlottesville, Va.

March 20, 1996: Blodgett achieves another UMaine first, winning the national scoring title at 27.8 points per game. Her 821 points set an NCAA sophomore record.

June 6, 1996: Blodgett is named to the USA Women’s Select Team at Colorado Springs, Colo.

June 14, 1996: Blodgett travels to Bennington, Vt., to serve as a torch runner for the 1996 Summer Olympics.

Feb. 1, 1997: Blodgett, despite suffering from the flu, scores 28 points at Vermont to eclipse the 2,000-point career mark faster (83 games) than any America East player.

Feb. 26, 1997: Blodgett earns her second straight America East Player of the Year honor.

March 2, 1997: Blodgett establishes a UMaine and America East single-game scoring standard with 52 points in a 99-57 victory over Towson State in the America East quarterfinals.

March 8, 1997: Maine claims its third consecutive league crown with a 92-70 win over Vermont in Orono. Blodgett scores 37 points en route to tournament records for points (128) and 3-pointers in a game (6).

March 15, 1997: Blodgett scores 34 points and grabs 10 rebounds, but commits 10 turnovers, as the Bears come up short against Louisiana State in the NCAA Tournament at Baton Rouge, La.

March 18, 1997: Behind a 27.0 average, Blodgett becomes only the second player in NCAA history to win back-to-back national scoring titles.

June 1, 1997: Blodgett is honored in Bangor by the Maine Sports Hall of Fame with its Outstanding Achievement Award.

Oct. 10, 1997: Blodgett is named a preseason All-America by Street & Smith’s college basketball magazine.

Nov. 10, 1997: Blodgett becomes first UMaine player to receive votes in the AP preseason All-America balloting.

Nov. 11, 1997: UMaine announces it will sell a Cindy Blodgett line of merchandise. Profits are earmarked for a scholarship fund.

Dec. 4, 1997: Blodgett becomes the all-time leading scorer in UMaine and America East history with a 40-point effort against Massachusetts at the Alfond. She passes former Bear Rachel Bouchard’s mark of 2,405 points.

Jan. 8, 1998: Blodgett misses a game for the first time in her career because of the injury. Maine beats Towson anyway.

Jan. 22, 1998: Blodgett returns to the Maine linuep, but the Bears lose 69-64 at Drexel. Blodgett scores 23 points.

Jan. 29, 1998: In her first Alfond appearance since her injury, Blodgett scores 32 points as Maine knocks off 15th-ranked Western Kentucky in one of the most notable wins in the program’s history.

Feb. 8, 1998: Blodgett sets a league regular-season record with 43 points in a win over Delaware.

March 7, 1998: Blodgett prevents Vermont’s Carrie Kirvin from getting off a shot in the closing seconds as Maine clinches its fourth straight America East title with an 81-80 victory. Blodgett scores 22 points in her last game at Alfond Arena.

March 9, 1998: Blodgett becomes the first UMaine or America East player selected as an AP All-American. She is named to the third team.

March 13, 1998: Blodgett’s brilliant college career comes to an end as North Carolina State whips Maine 89-64 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Raleigh, N.C.

March 28, 1998: Blodgett is the East team MVP in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association/Honda All-Star Challenge in Kansas City, Mo., scoring a game-high 17 points in 19 minutes.

March 31, 1998: Blodgett formally announces her intention to play in the WNBA.
