BRUNSWICK — Gordon Clark, director of National Peace Action, will speak on the importance of Maine to the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 15 Pleasant St., Brunswick, at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, April 18.

U.S. Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins are swing voters on ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, said a spokesman for National Peace Action. The group is working to convince the senators of the treaty’s importance and to ensure its passage in the U.S. Senate this spring. Great Britain and France have ratified the treaty.

Clark will speak about the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty and on the international movement called “Abolition 2000.” After a catered lunch, he will lead workshops on political effectiveness.

To reserve a place, call Peace Action Maine at 772-0680. Tickets are $20 per person, payable at the door. Child care and some scholarship funds are available.
