BANGOR — Spring cleanup will be done during May, when residents may drop wastes at the Public Works Department by permit, or have materials picked up at curb side.

Curb-side collection will be done May 4-8 only for large appliances such as furnaces, stoves, washers, dryers and water heaters.

Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners, toilets, sinks and tubs will not be accepted for curb-side pickup, but must be taken to a licensed freon removal site. Contact Industrial Metals at 947-3710, or Sawyer Environmental Services at 862-4200 for information.

Materials accepted at the Public Works Department May 2-31 include yard wastes — leaves and organic materials, trees, limbs, brush placed curbside by May 1; bulky waste, such as furniture and mattresses; and brown goods such as small appliances, radios, TVs and stereos.
