The guest commentary by Ed Emmons titled, “My first seven days as UMaine’s newest president” (BDN, April 23), left me breathless. A self-proclaimed genius in public administration, Emmons is evidently not one to allow facts to stand in the way of his simplistic pronouncements.
After he solves all of the University of Maine’s problems, maybe we could send him as an envoy to the Middle East where he could easily resolve all disputes between the Arabs and the Israelis. After that, there’s global warming.
But haste is required: I advise him to buckle down and finish up at UMaine in six days. Even God rested on the seventh. Phil Locke Bangor Associate professor of mathematics University of Maine
