PRESQUE ISLE – Husson scored 31 runs en route to a sweep of the University of Maine-Presque Isle in a college baseball doubleheader Wednesday.
The Braves shut out the Owls 19-0 in the opener, then won the nightcap 12-2.
In the first game, Brian Malo slugged a homer, single and drove in four runs to lead the Husson attack, John Montgomery added a home run and single, and Don Sawyer and Aaron Largay contributed a single and double each.
David Hamel and Jeff Michaud singled for the Owls.
In the second game, Montomery hit a two-run homer in the third inning, helping the Braves take a lead they would never relinquish.
Roy Peary finished with a double and three singles for Husson College of Bangor, while Cyr and Sawyer added two singles each.
Hamel slugged three singles for UMPI.

At Waterville, Scott Welch had a home run and four RBIs, as the Mules blasted the Terriers thanks to six first-inning runs.
Don Couture and Geoff Burnham each hit long balls for Thomas.

UM-Farmington sweeps Bates
At Lewiston, Molly Leopin had four hits in a Wednesday afternoon twinbill to help the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers to a sweep of Bates College, 7-6 in the first game and 7-3 in the second.
In the first game, Denelle Surman pitched a four-hitter to improve to 9-2. Christina Lyons, Michelle Blanchard and Leopin each hit two singles.

In the second game, Amanda Riggs improved to 10-2 with a seven-hitter while Pinkham doubled twice for two RBIs and Leopin singled twice for two RBIs.
