Ellsworth rolls by John Bapst> McDonald’s double, alert baserunning pace Eagles to ninth

BANGOR – Rick McDonald’s RBI double tied the game in the fifth inning and Ellsworth scored two go-ahead runs during a rundown between first and second base later in the inning en route to a 16-5 victory Friday over John Bapst at Husson College.

Ellsworth put the game away with eight sixth-inning runs behind John Woods’ two-run double, Josh Magoon’s two-run single and John Reed’s RBI base hit.

Reed had a double and two singles and drove in two runs for the winners. Bill Spreng doubled and singled and knocked in a pair and Tony Garreans had two singles and an RBI.

Nate Waring had a double and two singles and an RBI for John Bapst. Scott Tremble doubled and singled (1 RBI), while Matt Fisher and Scott Tyree (1 RBI) each had two singles.

Bucksport 15, MDI 7

At Mount Desert, the Golden Bucks scored five runs each in the second and third innings en route to their 10th victory.

Rick McHale paced Bucksport with three singles and two RBIs, Nick Raymond poked two doubles and knocked in three runs, and Craig Harvey had two singles and two RBIs.

Chris Curran led Mount Desert Island with two singles and two RBIs. Adam Walton hit a two-run single.

At Hermon, Toby Cole hit a grand slam and singled to lead George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill.

John Lewandowski singled twice and doubled for the Eagles.

Kevin Miller paced Hermon with four singles. Jake St. Louis added three singles and an RBI, and Kurt Calligan had three singles.

At Thorndike, Nick Vafiades and Joe McCarthy combined on a three-hitter for Lincoln Academy of Newcastle.

Chris Howell provided two singles and two RBIs for the Eagles. Jason Drake added three singles, while Joey Brooks (1 RBI) and Mark Lutte had two singles each.

Matt Ward, Tim Light and Pat Fitzpatrick each singled for Mount View.

At Rockland, Jon O’Dell blasted a three-run home run in the fourth inning and added an RBI double to lead Rockland to the win.

Derek Prescott drove in three runs with a double and single for the Tigers.

Matt York hit a double and a two-run homer for Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield. Nori Hayashi tripled and scored in the third inning.

At Bangor, Jeff King struck out eight and walked one while scattering seven hits to earn the win.

Aaron Tripp singled, doubled and tripled en route to driving in four for the Vikings. Ben Belyea homered, singled and had two RBIs. Josh Tripp chipped in with a double, a triple and two RBIs.

Noah Sargent paced Bangor Christian with three singles and two RBIs. Chris Snell added a two-run double and Jon Chrisos hit an RBI single.
