DOVER-FOXCROFT – Lacey Annis’ run-scoring single and Kelsey Wardwell’s two-run double snapped a 1-1 tie in the fourth as Bucksport scored four unearned runs en route to a 9-2 win over Foxcroft in high school softball action Wednesday.

Nikki Sheehan went the distance for the win, scattering eight hits while striking out eight and walking two.

Jessica Sawyer drove in three runs with a double and a two-run single; Kelly Downes had two doubles and a single good for two RBIs; Wardwell had a single to go with her double and Annis had a double to go with her base hit.

Becky Warren had a pair of singles for Foxcroft with Katie Stephens and Sherrie Zimmerman contributing a double each.

At Mount Desert Island, Denise Erland lined a two-run triple to go with two singles to lead the Eagles of Blue Hill.

Jenna LeClerc had three singles and Amy Foss scored four runs for GSA. Crystal Graves hit a solo homer and a single for two RBIs for the Trojans, and Holly Walker had two singles.

At East Machias, Amy Stevens struck out 11, walked two and scattered four hits in the Tigers’ win.

Stevens also had a pair of RBI singles. Amber Pinkham drove in three on two singles and Tovan Willey hit an RBI single and RBI triple for Sumner of East Sullivan.

Miranda Fergerson had a three-run triple for Washington Academy.

At Bangor, Lorie Mehuren scored four runs and drove in two with a pair of singles to pace the Red Riots.

Jessica Libby scattered five hits for Orono, while Meghann Taylor had three singles and two RBIs.

Stacy Rudnicki led John Bapst with two singles.

BC Pats sweep Richmond

At Bangor Christian, a hit by Rachel Sobey drove in the game-winning run – which happened to be scored by her sister Lari Sobey – in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Patriots to a 7-6 victory in the first game of a doubleheader against Richmond. The Patriots took the second game 12-4.

Rachel Sobey finished the first game with two singles and two RBIs. Farrah Carmichael smacked a triple. Richmond’s Staci Roy singled, drove in a run and scored twice. Amy Beckwith added two runs for the Bobcats.

In the second game, Lari Sobey doubled, hit two singles and added an RBI. Stephanie Regan singled, doubled and drove in two runs. Rachel Sage hit two singles and contributed two RBIs. For Richmond, Beckwith had an RBI single and Nicole Duval tripled.

At Oakland, Jamie Wacome smacked a double as Messalonskee got its 11th win.

Jen Baker and Renee Smith each hit two singles and Erin Findlan drove in two runs. Jennifer Parlin fanned seven batters in the five-inning game.

Waterville’s Nikki Cote singled and Beth Burnham scored the Purple Panthers’ only run.

Chris Dorman singled and doubled and had two RBIs to pace Dexter while Sonya Fletcher had two singles and an RBI.

At Milo, Abbie Bowen threw her second one-hitter against Schenck in less than a week, striking out 13 in the Patriots’ win.

Bowen now has 25 strikeouts in her last two outings. Erin Weston drove in two runs on a single and double, and Crystal Cail hit an RBI single for Penquis.

At East Corinth, Stephanie Partridge lined an RBI single and Valerie Rozelle laced a two-run single to highlight a five-run first inning for Central.

Missy Krawczyk had two RBI singles for Central, and Partridge hit three singles.

Allison McLaughlin led Mattanawcook of Lincoln with two solo home runs. Shelly Reed hit a homer.

Carver also hit two singles as the undefeated Royals scored six unearned runs. Renee Davis had a pair of base hits and Tammie Beal hit an RBI single for Jonesport-Beals.

Leigh Ann Hanson scored Calais’ lone run.

At Woodland, Autumn Gentle smacked a double, drove in a run and scored twice as Houlton cruised.

At Madawaska, Kelly Cyr belted two-run triple over a drawn-in right fielder with two outs in the top of the seventh inning to give Wisdom of St. Agatha the win.

Jen Derosier added two singles and two RBIs for the Pioneers, while Nina Michaud singled twice and drove in a run.

Erin Pelletier smacked a solo homer and two singles to collect three RBIs for the Owls. Rachel Fournier stroked two doubles and drove in three more runs.
