Gasaway propels Old Town to win

OLD TOWN – Zach Gasaway scattered seven hits, striking out six and walking two, and helped his own cause by doubling, singling and knocking in a run to lead Old Town to a 4-1 baseball win over Brewer Thursday.

Jason Thibodeau stroked a two-run single in the fourth inning for Old Town, while Jamie Kennedy provided an insurance run with a solo homer in the sixth.

Bruce Morneault and Todd Morneault stroked a double and a single each for the Witches. Ben Blood added two singles and Ryan Snell had an RBI base hit.

Valley 12, Bangor Christian 1

At Bingham, Chris Willer and Jacob Pierce ignited a four-run second inning with a straight steal of home and a two-run triple respectively as Valley defeated Bangor Christian.

Pierce tripled and singled to drive in three runs and backed Jacob Wade’s first varsity win for the Cavaliers. Dustin Cool singled twice and knocked in three.

Chris Snell, Josh Ouellette and Kevin Schroeder each had a double for the Patriots.

Jonesport-Beals 11, Shead 10

At Jonesport, James Robinson blasted a home run to lead off the eighth inning as Jonesport-Beals defeated Shead.

Robinson also pitched a complete game and struck out 14 for the Royals. Glenn Libby singled twice and Pat Beal and Dan Redman had a single and double each.

Ricky Cox singled and doubled to lead Shead. Larry Bowen ripped a pair of singles.

Bangor 5, Nokomis 4

At Bangor, Brianne Slamin drove in Rachel Kelly with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift undefeated Bangor to its 12th win.

Slamin finished the game with two singles. Jamie Kenny added an RBI single.

Kim Pushor smacked an RBI double for Nokomis of Newport. Wendy Winslow and Carrie Clark each singled twice.

Jonesport-Beals 34, Shead 0

At Jonesport, Tricia Carver and Rebecca Emerson combined to toss a no-hitter as Jonesport-Beals defeated Shead.

Tricia Carver had five hits, including four singles and a triple and drove in five runs for the Royalettes. Chelsie Carver had three singles, a double and two runs batted in. Tamie Beal ripped a single, triple and home run to drive in three. Erika Mitchell singled and doubled, driving in four runs and Lillian Durkee had a single and triple to knock in a pair.
