Belfast’s Guthrie shuts out Wiscasset

BELFAST – Belfast’s Sazi Guthrie held Wiscasset to one hit over five innings and struck out seven to lead the Lions to a 10-0 schoolboy baseball victory Tuesday. Belfast past Wiscasset.

Gary Gale blasted a three-run home run in the fourth inning and added an RBI single for Belfast. Peter Klausmeyer singled twice and drove in three runs. Brandon Hurd had two singles and drove in a run.

Mike Pontou singled for Wiscasset.

Searsport 11, Narraguaugus 4

At Searsport, Nate Hall was the star in the Vikings’ victory, striking out 11 batters and hitting a three-run homer.

Justin Connor added a two-run shot in the third inning and a second homer for three RBIs. Hall added another home run and a single for six RBIs. Matt Martin doubled and singled to drive in two runs and Vaughn Littlefield added a double and a single for Searsport.

Allan Stanwood hit a two-run home run for the Knights of Harrington.

At Blue Hill, Tyler Balombini-Goddard hit an RBI single and added a double for GSA.

Mac Jackson singled twice and drove in two runs for the winners and Toby Cole also hit two singles.

Travis Bickford doubled and Mike Kenwick hit an RBI triple for the Tigers of East Sullivan.

At East Corinth, senior Ed Houston belted his first two homers of the season, a pair of two-run shots, and he also had an RBI triple to pace Central.

Houston also notched the win, scattering seven hits while striking out six and walking three.

Keith Partridge homered and tripled and drove in two runs for the winners, who erupted for five first-inning runs behind Partridge, Houston, and Billy Kane’s RBI single.

Bud Webb had a two-run single for Penquis and Nate Hussey doubled.

At Deer Isle, Jason Weed hit a three-run homer and an RBI single during a 13-run fourth inning as Deer Isle-Stonington defeated Bangor Christian.

Weed finished with two home runs, a single, and six RBIs for the Mariners. Derek Sawyer blasted a two-run home run and Eric Haskell had two singles and an RBI.

Noah Sargent launched a two-run homer and a single for the Patriots. Aaron Davis recorded an RBI double.

At Millinocket, Buzz Simpson drilled a three-run homer and a single and pitched six strong innings to lead Bucksport.

John Beck doubled twice and singled for the Golden Bucks. Cameron Giroux had a double and single and Nick Raymond doubled.

Corey Streams doubled and tripled for Stearns. Darrin Daniels had two doubles and Matt Montgomery doubled home two runs. Rob Donato singled twice.

At Ellsworth, four Ellsworth pitchers combined on a four-hitter as the Eagles defeated Mount Desert Island.

Ricky McDonald tripled twice and singled to drive in a run for Ellsworth. Mike Sirois singled and doubled, driving in three runs. Nick Noddin lined a double and triple and had four RBIs.

Jamie Cunningham smacked a two-run single for the Trojans.

At Orono, David Means ripped a first-inning grand slam and added a single, driving in six runs as Orono defeated Hermon.

Tom Hite tripled for the Red Riots. Tom Perry went the distance, striking out five.

Hermon’s Chris Calligan singled twice.

At Old Town, Jason Thibodeau lined an 0-2 pitch up the middle to drive in Zach Gasaway for the winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning to lead Old Town.

Dan Emerson blasted a two-run home run for Old Town in the fifth inning and added a pair of singles. Gasaway singled three times. Jared Foster had two singles and two RBIs while Paul Dumont doubled and singled.

Tom Davis ripped a two-run double and a single for Hampden. Matt Gilbert singled three times and drove in a run.

At Newcastle, Jon Moro pitched a five-hitter and helped lead the Camden-Rockport Windjammers past Lincoln Academy.

Nate Neville had three singles and Joah Peck doubled and singled to pace the ‘Jammers. Mike MacDonald and Bernie Roberts each singled twice.

Greg Rice led the Eagles of Newcastle with two singles.
