ASHLAND – Jen Derosier galloped home with the winning run on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh to cap a four-run Wisdom uprising and give the Pioneers a 6-5 high school softball win over Ashland Thursday afternoon.

Tracy Guerrette paced the Pioneers of St. Agatha with two singles and an RBI. Guerrette induced the game-ending groundout after relieving starter Kelly Cyr with two outs and runners on second and third in the bottom of the seventh. Nina Michaud slugged an RBI triple.

Mandy Maker homered, singled and drove in three runs for the Hornets, who pounded out 13 hits but left the bases loaded three times. Leslie Bessey smacked three singles and Courtney Junkins added two more.

Presque Isle sweeps Nokomis

At Presque Isle, Cara Miller had six hits and five RBIs as Presque swept Nokomis in a doulbeheader.

In the first game, Miller had a double and two singles and drove in two runs to lift the Wildcats.

Billie Hayward added a double and two singles and three RBIs for Presque Isle. Maren Milliard singled twice and pitched a complete game seven-hitter.

In the second game, Miller hit a two-run double in the first inning and singled twice for Presque Isle.

Jessica Martin blasted a three-run double in the first inning and added a single. Amanda Belden hit two singles.

At Calais, Jen Bell powered the Shiretowners with a single, double and three RBIs.

At Dyer Brook, Kim Collier and Janet Coursey each hit a home run in the fourth inning as Southern Aroostook defeated Schenck.

Coursey had a two-run home run, two singles and three RBIs for the Warriors. Collier finished with a solo homer, triple and single and knocked in two.

Katahdin sweeps pair

At Sherman Station, Lacey Willett’s one-out double in the seventh drove in Kim Mann with the winning run as Katahdin edged Central Aroostook of Mars Hill 12-11 in the second game of a doubleheader. Katahdin defeated Central Aroostook 19-7 in the first game.

In the first game, Portia Anderson slammed four singles and drove in three runs to led the Cougars. Lindsay Duffy-Stanley added three singles, Jenny McNally nailed a double and triple and Michalene Duffy and Willett added two singles each.

Lindsay Boyd tripled twice and drove in three runs for the Panthers.

Anderson singled twice and doubled for Katahdin in the second game, Willett singled and doubled, and Duffy-Stanley, Mann and Bethany Perrin singled twice each.

Charity Cummings singled and doubled home the tying run in the seventh for Central Aroostook, while Lacey Bell and Tonya Alexander had a double each.

Woodland wins two

At Woodland, the Woodland Dragons swept a pair of games over Lee Academy and Shead on Thursday afternoon.

In the first game, Woodland defeated Lee in the completion of a game delayed by rain.

Kylie Snowman drove in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly and added a three-run triple in the third inning for Woodland. Rachel Wearne and Anne Dolan smacked two singles each.

Christina Krapf had three singles and scored twice for Lee. Ashley Beaulieu and Shannon Cole each singled and doubled. Renai Hayes lined two singles and scored twice.

In the second game, Woodland scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Shead.

Snowman singled twice and tripled for Woodland. Wendy Phelps, Jocelyn Leighton and Jaime Doucette each had three singles.

Melissa Preston hit two singles for Shead and Tara Mills singled and doubled.

At Van Buren, Fort Kent capitalized on 10 first-inning errors by Van Buren to score 15 runs and pick up the win.

Jessica Corriveau, Andrea Nadeau, Jessica Gagnon and Jennifer Voisine had three singles each for Fort Kent. Andrea Marquis added two singles and a triple.

Nichole Parker lined a triple for Van Buren.

At Fort Fairfield, Devin Jewett smashed a three-run home run during a seven-run first inning as Fort Fairfield downed Hodgdon.

Jessica Ireland drove in three runs for the Tigers with a solo home run and a single. Whitney Levasseur tripled and singled to drive in a run.

Danielle Pelletier ripped three singles and Staci Bell had two singles for Hodgdon.

At Harrington, Tricia Carver fanned 12 Narraguagus hitters, holding the Knights to six hits as Jonesport-Beals remained undefeated.

Carver singled twice and drove in a run for the Royalettes. Tamie Beal singled and doubled and had an RBI.

Holly Strout doubled and singled for Narraguagus. April Wallace stroked a pair of singles.

At Calais, Mike Weston pitched four innings of two-hit ball and helped his own cause with two home runs to pace Houlton.

Weston, who socked leadoff solo homers in the first and fourth innings, struck out six in his stint. Jon Husted doubled and singled for the Shiretowners and Jon Pottle added a solo home run.

Chris Leavitt hit an RBI single and James Frost doubled for the Blue Devils behind Josh Porter, who fanned seven.

Fort Fairfield’s Brandon Traknis singled and drove in a run. Ryan Willette doubled and Peter Solomon hit two singles.

At Ashland, Darren Belskis gave up five runs in the first two innings, but then settled down crafting a six-hitter to improve to 5-0.

The win over Wisdom avenged one of Ashland’s two losses this season, a Tuesday setback to the Pioneers of St. Agatha.

Charles Robinson led Ashland with three singles and three RBIs while Tim Tardie doubled and tripled for an RBI, Lee Bennett had two singles and two RBIs and Aaron Bennett tripled and singled.

Eric Soucy led Wisdom with two singles and an RBI while Nate Deschaine had an RBI triple.

At Sherman Station, freshman Rob Heath’s first varsity hit drove in Nick Cullen and ended the game in the bottom of the fifth on the 10-run rule.

Kent Smallwood and Richard Schmidt rapped a double and a single and collected two RBIs each for the Cougars. Cullen doubled and singled twice, while Bryan Duffy stroked two singles.

Gordon Codrey drilled a triple and a single for the Panthers of Mars Hill and Jon Codrey poked two doubles.

At Harrington, Narragaugus used a 14-hit attack and played flawlessly in the field in downing Jonesport-Beals.

Joe Haskell led for the Knights of Harrington going 4-for-4, all singles, for two RBIs. Brad Smith added three singles and an RBI.

The Royals’ Josh Knowlton smashed a three-run homer while James Robinson singled, doubled and had an RBI.

At Van Buren, Nathan Marquis struck out eight batters in four innings and reliever Jess Cormier fanned the side in the fifth as the Crusaders posted the win on the 10-run rule.

Marquis bashed a two-run homer in the first and was walked intentionally in his next three plate appearances – including once with the bases loaded. Cormier singled four times and Zach Cote added two doubles, a single and three RBIs. Eric Ayotte singled twice.

Chris Chasse doubled and rapped a two-run single for Fort Kent.

Nokomis, Presque Isle split

At Presque Isle, Marc Wood cranked a three-run homer in the fourth inning as the Wildcats got an 11-6 victory in the first game of a doubleheader against the Warriors. Nokomis of Newport turned the tables in the second game to top Presque Isle 11-6.

In the opener, Chris Michaud hit four singles for two RBIs. Nick Nadeau singled, doubled and drove in one run. For the Warriors, Greg Morse hit two singles and a double for one RBI. Gus Demos singled twice.

In the nightcap, Morse battled back with two singles, a double and one RBI. Jarrid Otis smacked a three-run home run, a double and a single to total five RBIs. Presque Isle’s Matt Allen doubled and drove in three runs anhd Brad Boyles added an RBI-double.

At Lubec, Tom Frutchey went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs to lead Machias past Lubec.

Frutchey had three singles for the Bulldogs. Kevin Loughlin doubled and tripled and had an RBI. Erick Millay drove in a run with a double and scored three runs.

Brannin Buehner went 3-for-5 with five RBIs for Lubec. Chris Newman singled three times and drove in three runs. Leo McGonigal had two singles.

Woodland splits a pair

At Woodland, the Woodland Dragons played a pair of close games, losing to Lee Academy before beating Shead in extra innings.

In the first game, Woodland and Lee completed a game delayed by rain as Lee scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat the Dragons.

Charlie Worster slammed a three-run home run in the top of the seventh and added a single and a double.

Josh Thornton doubled and had two singles, driving in a pair for Woodland. Mark Knowles doubled and singled and Derek Bailey and Matt Ayer hit two singles each.

In the second game, Thornton broke a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning with a two-run home run as Woodland closed the season with a win.

Thornton added a sacrifice fly and a straight steal of home for the Dragons. Bailey doubled and tripled to drive in a run.

Ricky Cox had two singles and an RBI for Shead and Jimmy Mitchell doubled in two runs.
