LIBERTY–The Appalachian Trail Conference, a volunteer-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection and management of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, has selected Liberty Graphics of Liberty to design and print a backcountry T-shirt to benefit ATC’s “Grants-for-Outreach” program.
This program reaches out to nontraditional trail-use groups, such as youth, youth-at-risk, inner-city residents, senior citizens, minorities, and people with disabilities, and introduces them to the enjoyment of the outdoors and to Leave No Trace back-country practices. Since the program began in 1994, ATC has distributed nearly $65,000 in grants to fund outreach projects.
Vasque Outdoor Footwear is the national sponsor of the Grants-for-Outreach Program. Liberty Graphics is also sponsoring this program through the design, production, and distribution of the T-shirt, and by donating a portion of the proceeds to ATC’s program. Several outdoor retailers offering the shirt for sale have also agreed to donate a portion of their proceeds. The T-shirt was designed by Maine artist R.N. Richardson.
