CARRABASSETT VALLEY – Sugarloaf/USA has scheduled a press conference for July 9 at which officials will unveil plans for second golf course at the resort.

Golf course designer Robert Trent Jones Jr. will visit Sugarloaf during the first week of July to choose the final site for the new course from among two available parcels of land.

Jones designed the original course, which was ranked No. 20 on Golf Magazine’s list of the “Courses You Can Play” in its May 1998 issue. Golf Digest ranked it as the No. 16 course in the nation among the “Top 50 Best Places to Play for Women. The rugged beauty and challenging layout has made Sugarloaf a top destination for Mainers and vacationers alike since it opened in 1984.
